Connecticut Legal Traffic Authorities are municipal officials designated by the municipalities to establish traffic regulations and authorize the installation of traffic control devices. The Darien Legal Traffic Authority is comprised of the three Darien Police Commissioners: Robert F. Harrel, J. Paul Johnson, and Peter L. Truebner. The Traffic Division Officers serve as liaisons for the Darien Police Commissioners. The Traffic Division Officers have completed UCONNs CT Transportation Institute Technology Transfer Centers Legal Traffic Authority Program in order to have the knowledge to serve as liaisons for the Darien Police Commissioners. The Darien Police Commissioners hold monthly meetings at the Darien Police Headquarters, which are open for public attendance.
