Emergency Response Teams are designed to provide officers with the weapons and training that will enable them to react to critical incidents with a high degree of proficiency...to prevent injury and death. The Mission of the Darien Police Emergency Response Team is to provide a team of highly trained officers who are specially equipped and highly trained to respond to critical incidents in order to save lives. The Darien Police Emergency Response Team provides the community with a team of highly trained officers who are committed to our community. They train once a month to maintain their proficiency.
The Special Weapons & Tactics team is called upon to respond to the following types of incidents:
High risk search and arrest warrantsUnusual occurrences
Barricaded suspects
Hostage Situations
Mutual aid to allied agencies
Escort for hazardous and/or Sensitive materials
Sniper activity
Riot and crowd control
Rescue tactics
Terrorist activities
