RE:                        Town of Darien COVID-19 Test Kit Distribution Event Tomorrow

From:                   Captain Jeremiah P. Marron Jr.

                                Darien Police Department

The Town of Darien will be distributing “at home” COVID-19 test kits tomorrow January 8, 2022 at Darien High School, 80 High School Lane, between the hours 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.  These test kits are available to Darien residents only.  Based on the distribution from last weekend’s event, we believe that the amount of test kits in supply is sufficient enough to meet the demand.  There is no requirement for residents to arrive before or at the start of the event  in order to obtain a test kit.  Residents can arrive any time within the 12:00pm – 3:00pm time frame.  We ask residents to avoid “queuing up” at the site location prior to the start of the event.  Last week this presented heavy traffic conditions on nearby roads at the start of the event, yet the afternoon hours saw a lighter attendance of those picking up kits.

Note: this is a “drive through” distribution event and motorists will not be exiting their vehicles.  The flow of traffic must be maintained safely and efficiently in order to get these kits distributed.

To facilitate the safe and efficient traffic flow around the Darien High School during this distribution, High School Lane will be closed at Middlesex Road at approximately 11:00 AM.  All traffic will enter the Darien High School property via Noroton Ave. and will exit the area via Nutmeg Lane.  Darien Police Department Staff will be on-site to assist the organizers with traffic management and security.  Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and patience.  Residents not seeking a COVID-19 test kit tomorrow are asked to please avoid the area around the Darien High School between the hours of 12pm and 3pm.
