On Thursday February 17th, the Norwalk Police Department kindly honored Darien Police Officer Stuart Schwengerer at the Norwalk Police Department Awards Ceremony which took place at Norwalk City Hall last night. In September of 2020, a domestic violence incident unfolded in the City of Norwalk and Tactical Teams and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene after the suspect barricaded himself in a residence and threatened the use of weapons against police officers responding. Along with his role as the Middlesex Middle School S.R.O., Ofc. Schwengerer is also a member of the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team and responded to assist in this incident. After a six hour standoff, the incident was brought to a safe and successful conclusion. As a result, the Norwalk Police Department issued a “Unit Citation” to the personnel who assisted that day providing such tremendous effort keeping all those involved and nearby safe. Congratulations to the Norwalk Police Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Division, and to Ofc. Schwengerer. Well done!
