Darien, CT – Over the past several weeks, the Darien Police Department Selective Enforcement Unit (S.E.U.) developed information involving the sale of heroin in Darien.

Investigators determined that a subject identified as Kevin Grant, DOB 02/20/1991, of 20 Shady Acres Rd Darien, was in illegal possession of prescription narcotics, and conducted the sale of heroin in Darien during an incident that occurred in October of 2015.  During this past week Darien officers applied for and were issued an arrest warrant for Grant charging him with the sale and possession of narcotics stemming from that incident.

This afternoon investigators determined that Grant would be conducting a heroin sale in the southwest section of Darien.  Selective Enforcement Unit officers and officers from the patrol division conducted surveillance in a predetermined area in the southwest section of town in close proximity to the Boston Post Rd (Rte. 1).

Shortly after 7:00pm officers observed a vehicle being operated by Grant arrive at the location the transaction was known to be taking place.  Officers then pulled Grant’s vehicle over and quickly took him into custody.  Grant suffered minor injuries during his arrest and was later treated and released by Darien EMS Post 53.  During the incident, three (3) bags of heroin were recovered.

Once placed under arrest, Grant’s vehicle was searched with the assistance of Norwalk Police K-9 “Maverick” and subsequently towed.  Grant was then transported to Darien Police Headquarters for booking and was charged as follows:

Kevin Grant

Possession of Narcotics - 1 Count

Sale of Narcotics - 2 Counts

Grant is being held on $250,000.00 bond and remains in the custody of the Darien Police Department.
