Sgt. Kane Winn
The training and recruitment division is staffed by a sergeant who is under the direct command of the Staff Captain and Chief of Police.
The training officer is responsible for planning and coordinating the training for all police personnel. State mandated training records must be accurately maintained for each officer, and are subject to audit by state certification officials.
In addition to conducting in-service training programs, the training officer is responsible for researching law enforcement publications, developing lesson plans and instructional materials, scheduling guest lecturers, and providing officers with legal updates.
The training officer works closely with department administrators to oversee the recruitment, testing and training of new officers.
