On September 15, 2026 at approximately 12:30pm Darien
Police Dispatchers were contacted by an employee at the Exxon Gas Station (1358
Post Rd) reporting an armed robbery that just occurred. The suspect brandished
a handgun demanding cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled with over $3000 and
20 packs of cigarettes.
The suspect reported to have left on a small e-bike heading
westbound on the Post Road. Officers responded immediately to the area but were
unable to locate the suspect. Using camera footage in the area, officers were
able to determine a description of the e-bike and suspect.
On September 17, 2026 at approximately 1:15am, a Darien
Officer observed a vehicle on the Post Road in the area of Corbin Drive with an
equipment violation. Upon running the license plate, officers learned that the registered
owner of the vehicle had an active arrest warrant out of Derby, CT.
The officer performed a motor vehicle stop. During the motor
vehicle stop, officers observed drug paraphernalia and improperly packaged
medication. While taking the suspect into custody officers found clothing and
footwear that matched the description of the suspect involved in the robbery
from two days prior. Detectives were notified and secured search warrants for
both the vehicle and suspect’s residence.
Detectives executed the search warrants on September 17,
2026 and located an e-bike, firearm, and clothing that matched the items used
in the robbery. Detectives then applied for and were granted an arrest warrant
for the suspect, Jason D. Mann (DOB 08/13/1971) of 27 Old Parish Rd, Darien.
The investigation revealed that Mann
parked his pickup truck near the location of the robbery, with the e-bike
secured in the bed of the truck. Mann removed the e-bike from the truck and
used it during the robbery. He then returned to the pickup with the e-bike,
placed it back in the truck, covered it and fled the area.
On the morning of September 18, 2026, Mann was transported
to Stamford Court where he was held on $225,000 bond with the following
charges.
